Gabon government takes a stake in Afrijet

The Gabonese Republic has decided to make a strategic investment by acquiring 56% of shares in domestic airline Afrijet, which was founded in 2004. The deal was orchestrated through the Fly Air Gabon Holding (FLAGH) company, as part of an ambitious vision aimed at strengthening the national flag and promoting air connectivity, both nationally and internationally.

At the same time, Afrijet wishes to expand its international presence by acquiring medium-haul aircraft to develop international services. The carrier will also become a limited company with a Board of Directors and a Managing Director.

This initiative represents an important step in the transformation of the Gabonese aviation sector and demonstrates the government’s commitment to economic development and national and international connectivity. By investing in Afrijet, the Gabonese Republic affirms its desire to make air transport an essential engine of growth and development for the country, with hopes of providing Ghana with a new national airline within three years.
