Flybondi installs winglets on its aircraft

Buenos Aires, July 30, 2024.- Flybondi, the first low-cost airline in Argentina, has installed winglets on two of its aircraft (registration marks LV-KJF and LV-KJD) in order to increase operational efficiency. This way, the company upgraded factory items that were not originally installed. The procedure was performed in the shops of Aerolíneas Argentinas, at the Ezeiza Airport, and was handled by the Maintenance area of the supplier company.

Winglets are structures that improve an aircraft’s performance, increasing the airplane’s range by reducing fuel consumption, which, in turn, helps to cut CO2 emissions. The main goal is to reduce fuel consumption as well as to decrease direct costs. During the second half of 2024, the company intends to install winglets on the remaining aircraft under this project.

Flybondi is implementing these improvements to contribute towards cutting fuel consumption as well as reducing CO2 emissions. I would like to highlight the work carried out by our Maintenance team, which was in charge of overseeing the procedure,” said Eduardo Gaspari, Flybondi’s Chief Operation Officer. He further added: “Clear evidence of this procedure’s success is that, during April, May and June, the first aircraft where this device was installed showed a 7.45% decrease in fuel consumption, which entailed saving 72,650kg of fuel within the control period.”

Flybondi flies to 19 domestic destinations and 3 international destinations, through 26 routes (18 domestic routes to/from Buenos Aires, 5 interprovincial routes, and 3 international routes), and has already carried over 11 million passengers.
