Falko Regional Aircraft Limited (Falko) announces the acquisition of four (4) Q400 NextGen aircraft on lease to Ethiopian flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines (“Ethiopian”). The aircraft with MSNs 4469, 4472, 4475 and 4476, were purchased from Aergo Capital Limited (“Aergo”) on behalf of Falko’s managed fund, Falko Regional Aircraft Opportunities Fund II, (“Fund II”).
“We are delighted to announce the successful acquisition of the four Q400 aircraft with leases attached from Aergo. We would like to extend our thanks to the Aergo team for their continued collaboration throughout the transaction process and we look forward to working with them on future opportunities,” commented Mark Hughes, Chief Commercial Officer.
Mark Hughes added “This deal marks, the ninth Q400 on lease to Ethiopian under Falko management, and the first transaction with this carrier under Fund II. In total, since inception, Fund II has invested in seventy-nine aircraft. This broadens Falko’s existing relationship with the airline, widely recognised as one of Africa’s top performing carriers both in terms of management and financial performance having enjoyed great success from both its passenger and freighter businesses. With the Q400 suited to Ethiopian’s mission profile and operating environment, it is expected to be a long-term operator of this aircraft type.
Fred Browne, Chief Executive Officer of Aergo Capital, adds: “We are delighted to have worked with Falko on this deal. Their professionalism and dedicated approach made for a smooth and successful closing. We look forward to building further on our relationship with Falko in the future.”
