New wetlease partnership for German Airways: Germany's second oldest airline flies Spanish routes for Binter next winter

Cologne/Bonn, 22 August 2023. German Airways has a new partner. It will initially be flying for the Spanish airline Binter in the coming winter timetable. The second oldest German airline is thus expanding its circle of partner airlines to include an established airline that has been on the market since 1989. German Airways is stationing an Embraer E190 including crews in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria, which will be flying in the livery of Binter from November.

The now agreed cooperation is the first collaboration between the two airlines. German Airways will supplement missing Binter aircraft during their maintenance and will mainly handle flights to mainland Spain for the Spaniards.

Maren Wolters, Managing Director of German Airways: “We are very pleased about this new partnership. We are expecting a very demanding operation for which we are well equipped. Both airlines share the same passion for excellent service and travel comfort.”

Binter connects all seven major Canary Islands and their eight airports with each other; it also flies to Madeira, the Cape Verde Islands, destinations on the Spanish mainland, Palma de Mallorca, as well as airports in France, Italy and West Africa. Since 2022, Binter offers international flights during summer with origin and destination abroad with the connection Marrakech – Madeira. The company also wants to establish itself as an interface for flights between Europe and Africa. Binter is itself an Embraer operator and currently has a fleet of 28 ATR turboprops and five Embraer E195 jets.
